So yes, it is what I have been waiting for, its a NEW Raptor drive from my favorite West Coast hard drive maker, Western Digital. I have been a super fan of their drives ever since I first picked up two of their 32gb 10k RPM Raptors and ran them in a RAID zero. In fact, I am STILL running them in a RAID zero. . .and I have been feeling the pain. Not only have other drive manufactures come out with new and faster drives since the, (in some benchmarks) but I am afraid that they will die soon, its been almost 5 years! Here is what WD has to say about it’s new baby :

Wow, thats fast! I have been reading reviews here, here and here. So to say the least, I need two of these puppies, and I need them now! But, they may be a little pricey, and I am afraid of that. So maybe, I can make do with something DIY like this homemade flash hard drive kit. Who knows what my next upgrade will be, but I am excited about storage this year!! It has been the one major bottleneck now for YEARS, and I am glad that people are standing up and doing something about it.
