Yesterday I had to pick myself up, and go back to the mall to get my iPhone, Apple had given me this handy little golden. . .err, silver ticket to get back in the store within a 24hr time frame if I could get the issue worked out with AT&T that had prevented me from getting a phone in the first place.

And yes, the nice guy Mike had tried everything, upgrading my current plan, adding a line, and just a whole new plan to begin with. None of the three worked. I ended up calling AT&T phone support at about midnight that night to see what was up. The representative on the phone said it was all because I had a FAN number on my account, for my companies discount with AT&T. I asked her if I had went to an AT&T store if I could get one, she said not at all. This was nothing the store could even fix, and told me it would take about 48hrs to roll over. She had told me that they were in meetings all day to try and figure out how to fix this problem, and were going to try and take the flag off of everyone’s account that night.

I called back the next morning around 8am, and they simply removed my FAN number, and told me it would take up to 4 hours to take effect. So, I chilled, had some lunch then returned to the mall to get my iPhone. I went up to the security guard that was there, showed him my magic ticket, and went right in and got the freaking phone. And it was awesome to finally have it, seriously.

Been reading around the web today about the problems on this weekends iPhone activation fiasco, and the folks over at ArsTechnica.com say that signs point to Apple, as they had activation issues all around the world, not just here in the US.

Overall, I am happy I waited in line Friday all day and got my phone the next day. There was still a big ass line when I went there, and it made me feel like a super star being able to just waltz in.
