So in case you were wondering wtf was happening with Twitter, and Plurk, and even some of your FaceBook photos, it is because Amazon’s S3 servers crashed. . .and there is still no ETA. Here is a little tid bit from the Wikipedia post on their service

“Amazon S3 is reported to store more than 14 billion objects as of January 2008, up from 10 billion in October of 2007″

“S3’s design aims to provide scalability, high availability, and low latency at commodity costs.”

I guess its a good thing most of the services affected are free to the public to an extent. It does make the Twitter homepage look like utter crap, and I can not imagine that other site are very pretty missing this storage. Man, I am just glad I never went and tried to use it as a reliable backup source, my hard drives here in my house will work just fine thank you very much. And pretty soon I will be getting me one of these pretty little devices from DroBo, Squeee!
